Concerts, stores, luthiers, teachers, etc. in Bologna

Post by Tim W » Mon Mar 27, 2017 6:42 pm

I'll be in Bologna for a week or so in the beginning of June and am looking for any guitar-related suggestions. Anyone know of any good teachers who might give a lesson? Recitals? Luthiers? I'm happy with my Ruck, but you never know... Thanks

Tim

You could check with Gabriele Lodi, a fine Luthier in Carpi, a short drive from Bologna to Modena and then on the A22 to Carpi; maybe an hour total. He may well know some teachers. Andrea Tacchi is in Florence and Enrico Bottelli is in Voghera. Coriani is in Modena.
Enjoy the trip!

Thanks for the suggestions, Jack.
I've heard of Lodi, but don't think I've ever seen/heard one of his instruments. I may pass through Firenze and will certainly look up Tacchi, though he's probably a little too rich for my blood. :-)

Gabriele Lodi builds a beautiful Torres LE 113 copy (he has the original) and his price is about half of Tacchi. If you see Gabriele tell him I sent you. He's a very nice person and very enthusiastic about music and guitars. Marcin Dylla plays a Lodi.
Tacchi's guitars are also beautiful and his wait list is around 5 years. Andrea is close to 60 and I'm guessing Gabriel is in his late 30's or early 40's.
The food in and around Carpi is perhaps the best in Italy. The pasta is so light I'm surprised it doesn't float off the plate..

Hi Jack!
I am in Carpi in a couple of hours. May I contact Gabriele and tell him that you advised me to do this? Would love to buy a good Italian guitar. Also will be in Firenze. Do you know e-mail and telephone of Andrea Tacchini?
Andrey.

This is part of the Easter period - maybe he is on vacation.

I have met Gabriele Lodi and Giovanni Tacchi!!! Andrea was away in Turkey. Also visited some guitar shops in Italy and tried several great guitars made by the world famous luthiers. Have many photos.
