Manuel Rodriguez e Hijos cedar C Sapele

Post by julindres » Sat Sep 09, 2017 1:20 pm

Hi everybody...I got a great concert double top guitar made by Marcus doninelli and I love it. But being my main and really only guitar many times I can't take it on flights and trips because I'm afraid of damage. So I went into Sam ash just to look around and played this Manuel Rodríguez e hijos C sapele...and I got to say, that is one sweet tone sounding guitar. Price was 1400, thinking about getting it as a backup. Anybody else has experiences with that model?

I have 2 MR guitars and I love them. My C3F is an entry level and is my first choice if I'm playing out. I really like the sound and neck profile.
I also have a Model D (in that student line, I believe only the Model E would be an upgrade). This is also a very sweet sounding cg.

Thanks for the input Bear...jaja Oh man what a good name. Yeah these one felt pretty good, What really got me was the tone over all in the basses and trebles...Kind of took me by surprise because well, normally guitars in that range don't sound so deep specially on the basses. I don't know if the sapele has to do anything with that

I've tested several MR guitars in the factory and I own a FF Cutaway. Nice sound. I think it's a good choice for a backup guitar, but the price???
What currency?
MR C Sapeli is listed at Europes biggest musical instrument distributor (the one starting with "Th") for 739 EUR (incl. 19% VAT), which is 1'080 CAD or 890 USD. UK price is 662.59 GBP.

Don't know if Thømann  ships to USA, just ask 'em in English language by mail.
International customer sevice: sc.cc@[name of the company, which isn't allowed to type here correctly].de.
You could also contact Mr. Manuel Rodríguez III by mail, he speaks English (he was born in USA) - maybe he'll find a way or knows other US-distributors. https://mrguitarras.es/en/contact/

Manuel Rodriguez III recently asked me if I would consider carrying Manuel Rodriguez guitars. He sent me a sample and I was very impressed. I agreed, and I am now an authorized dealer for Manuel Rodriguez Guitars. I am in the process of having a dedicated page created on my website, and will be set up to take orders in a few weeks.

Manuel Rodriguez y Hijos has been making guitars for more than a hundred years, and is the second oldest maker of guitars in Spain, second only to Ramirez.

I also found a used Jose Ramirez 125 años for $1,200...I never played the Ramirez before but see a lot of praise for it. So I'm between that one and the MR Sapele. Has anybody tried or owned both? or any of them?
