Paganini - a nail player?

Post by DLMJ-1234 » Mon Nov 27, 2017 5:46 pm

Does anyone know if Paganini played the guitar with nails or flesh?

By a few accounts he gave Guitar and Violin recitals on the same billing and wondered if anyone knew?

His recordings sound like a combination of flesh and nail.

Quite possibly but that doesn't prove it. It's just a moment in time. We would need a bit more evidence to say with any certainty that Paganini played with nails. I'm looking at the nail on the little finger, that can get in the way a little when holding a violin bow. Same applies to the thumb nail unless the right side of it is cut short.
