Bach (Krebs) Transcription for feedback Little Prelude in e minor

Post by Phillips99 » Thu Feb 26, 2015 7:02 pm

I love this piece and have been working it out to play on guitar. I'm playing it incredibly slow but the fingerings seem to work for me. When I'm done maybe would be best to upload one without fingerings.

I listened to various recordings on organ as well as the Zagreb Guitar Quartet for references.

Any feedback on the presentation, layout, fingerings, format, etc. before I upload anything to the score forum would be great!

First off, it looks quite nice.

Next would be, "is this really the best key?" It seems to stay in the mid-range, which can sound grumbly and growly. What about A minor?

Yes. That seems like a good idea. I check that out and see how it changes the fingerings and sound.

I agree with David about the overall look; it is neat and easy to read. I agree too about the key; there is no need to stick to the original key. However you need to be more careful with the way the voices are set out. For example, in the first bar, where there are three voices, there needs to be a crotchet rest above the bass E (indicating a rest in voices 1 and 2). Voice 2 should consist of crotchet E followed by 2 quaver Es, then crotchet D sharp. Voice 1 should be crotchet B followed by dotted crotchet A and quaver B. There are similar issues throughout the piece.

Thank you Pogmoor. That's the kind of info I am hoping for. I see what you mean about the voicing now.

I transposed to A minor. I find that much easier to play. I removed the third voice in a measure so it is more consistent, made sure none of the rests are hidden, changed the voicing and values here and there.

Joanne, I think it flows much better in this key. Good work thus far.
