Spray paint "DA is God" on the walls!

This is astoundingly good, Denian. The interplay between the voices is just phenomenal. You really bring this piece to life in a way that is very inspiring. Needless to say the recording quality is the best I have heard on the forum.

Wow, just wow!

Denian I have a question. The performance clearly shows you have full control and it sounds great. Terrific playing, and very musical. If I recall other performances of this piece, you use more rolled chords than others. I tend to love the sonority of the guitar in chords that are not arpeggiated all the time. I realize this is a choice, and perhaps the period demands it, but I was wondering what your thoughts on this are.

Hi astro - I actually think that I roll too many chords here. I was just going with the flow, not thinking too much, and this is how it came. The score does in fact demand rolled chords in a few places. But yes, some struck chords here and there would be welcome.

Beautifully played. And that sound is better than most of my CDs. :D

Mertz is beautiful and she did very well played,
You can have information on microphones and recording technique?
I do not think that it is the pure sound of the instrument, it is definitely a filtrato sound, clean and definitely have used a little reverb.
This is a sound professional recording studio.
Thanks Maxim Joan :bravo:

Hi Maxim - the mics are a pair of Audio technica 4033's placed about 2 metres in front of me at a metre high and a metre apart. The software I record into is studio one. The recording is one take with a small amount of compression and an even smaller amount of reverb. The performance was in my music teaching room.

As a point of interest I've just uploaded my video of Mertz' Elegie with all processing removed. This is the sound of the guitar in my room; the only changes to the audio file are whatever my video software does to the file and then, on top of that, whatever horrors youtube processing inflicts upon the sound. Here it is if you're interested in the comparison:

Maybe I've got an odd audio response....I like the unprocessed one much better.
It sounded like you were right here in the room playing for me! :-D

I'm not sure where to begin expressing how much I appreciate this one. Thank you for sharing it with us.

I suspect I'll listen to it many, many times.
