Llobet, Miguel - Plany - Video

Postby Dmitry Nilov » Thu Mar 09, 2017 6:24 pm

Dear friends,
inspired by your appreciation I post the next Catalan Song.

Youtube

A song with a beautiful melody, which originally told the story of an interprid Pyrenean shepherd who was jealous of his freedom. A new text was written by Jaume Masso i Torrents, lamenting the loss of Catalonia's ancient right to autonomous goverment. From 1897 onwards Morera performed the song in his own choral arrangement, using the text by Masso i Torrents. Llobet composed his version for guitar shortly afterwards, in 1899, aged only 21.

All the best,
DN

and: if you like the music connected wih Catalonia maybe you would find interesting compositions by contemporary Catalonian composer, Eliseo Fresquet Serret ? Maestro Eliseo is sometime active on this Forum, in his modesty is not searching for big recognition but is well known in his circles and recording of some of His pieces are here and on YouTube.

Really beautifully played. The sonority is 'dark' and the mood somber. Love this.

Thank you, it was very beautifully played. Also, I liked the close-up filming of your hands, that's great for learning.
