It isn't, but then for a solo guitar recording there isn't much more to do than basic stuff.

Bert

Please bear with me for a moment. Can you explain why you duplicate tracks, apply the settings you have (wet +4, dry -12) then reduce the wet track by 7dB then mix the tracks. Is it not simpler to just take the two original channels and change the ratios of wet and dry? As an example I took all your reverb settings except the wet and dry levels (which I set to -9 and -2 respectively) and got pretty respectable results. I avoided doing all the extra stages of duplicating, attenuating and mixing etc. What am I missing? :?

Nothing probably. With an extra track you have some more control over the amount of reverb. It's easier to change the amount you want while listening to the recording instead of using the preview. I always got a lousy result with Audacity's reverb, got this solution of the internet and it works for me, so I keep doing it. No need to copy this when another way works for you.

Never really paid attention to those gains. I'm afraid I don't really do this in a scientific manner. Probably with an extra track it would be even better to put wet to maximum. I don't think the dry setting matters.

BTW. And as you are recording, why not post?

Nicely played, Bert. The title however does not translate to "sleep my baby" in any Welsh I know. :D

Suo Gân (with the accent) roughly translates as "lulling song" although technically it should be Cân Suo as in Welsh the words are reversed in order.

Suo Gan (without the accent) on the other hand is an incomplete sentence and translates to "lulled by". Perhaps this is the intended title, but my money is on "lulling song".

Aaaaanyway... Nice playing all the same.
Negative, I am a meat popsicle.

Hi Marko,

You're right.

What I gathered is that "Sleep my Baby" is the English title for the song and not the translation. Suo Gân and Suo Gan are both used on the net, but probably all those people where as lazy as me when they skipped the accent. I will be more careful next time.

"Nicely played, Bert. The title however does not translate to "sleep my baby" in any Welsh I know. :D"

Yeah but, no English speaker can help but sing the opening melody as

sleep, my baby , followed by, perhaps,
sleep, my darling,
night is falling
go the eff to sleep,

etc.

My guess is that the original Welsh lyrics are similar. Except, of course, they would be starved of vowels. And wouldn't Lullaby perfectly translate "lulling song"?
