New Redman Guitar

Post by blevinsjake » Wed Dec 14, 2016 4:06 am

Hello all,

I wanted to once again show off a new guitar I just received from Joseph Redman. I commissioned a cedar top with a raised fretboard and liked it so much I commissioned another, this time spruce. The spruce and zebrawood is absolutely superb--rich basses, clear trebles, excellent balance. With the raised fretboard, the "jumbo" frets, and Joseph's waxed (I think) neck, the playability is just perfect. I've said this before: I love to read all the questions about buying guitars--factory versus luthier, price point guitars, and so on. I just can't imagine anyone spending a few thousand dollars on high end factory guitar when they could get a Redman, made to their specs. Anyway, I can't say enough about Joseph and what he does. I would strongly encourage anyone looking for a luthier guitar to give Joseph. I recorded a little sample--excuse the clanky playing and mediocre recording and I think you can hear the richness of this instrument.

Hmm, did you perhaps forget to attach the sample?

Anyway, I agree with you 100%, I can't be happier with my Redman! Highly recommended. I've been meaning to record more audio, but I'm busy with finals for the next 2 weeks, unfortunately...

Wow, that zebrawood looks great! I think it would be cool to see more of those around actually.
There was a secondhand one with zebrawood posted on here and craigslist that was local to my area, but I did not jump on it.. wish I would have at least inquired and tried to check it out in person.
At any rate congratulations and I hope it sounds as good as it looks!

Look above; I figured out how to get a sound sample.

That wood looks great. Maybe I'll get some. Lovely looking and sounding instrument. Sounds very crisp!

Yes, the zebrawood is really stunning (he made one for my daughter with zebrawood, too). For whatever impact the back and sides have on sound, I think this tightgrained zebrawood is very similar to Indian rosewood (but a lot prettier). :-)

And yes, very, very crisp guitar--it's the sound I wanted for my spruce top. He really got exactly the tone I was looking for on this one. The cedar top he made for me last year is little punchier and a definitely darker in tone.
