I am receiving a GC82S today, that I ordered via Sweetwater in June 2016 (about 15 months ago), the price was $8999 (with 1/2 down on ordering); it was apparently delayed due to changes in CITES required documentation (in early 2017). Matt Masek was the person at Sweetwater that I worked with in ordering it, and he did a good job of keeping me apprised about the status of my order (over the longer then expected wait time). From what I can tell by an online search, the guitar is made using Madagascar Rosewood (since it was being exported out of Japan).
Wow! :bravo: Congratulations... Looking forward to your experience/review/pictures.

15 months you say...hmm, mine may be longer than I was told: first it was June, now August\September. I may be waiting until 2018, as I ordered in late October 2016.

Yes, it is Madagascar Rosewood.

I am also eagerly waiting to get both your reviews. I will be looking for a used Yamaha GC70 next year after I have shifted home.

So I unboxed my GC82S last night, all is good. I'm not much of a player, but it definitely seems to have a soul of sorts (a standard guitar that somehow exudes in look, feel and sound "I'm exceptional"). I will try to take some pictures this weekend.

It will be good to compare your Yamaha with your Ramirez since Liona Boyd says that the Yamaha sounds like the Ramirez.

Here are a couple of photos of the case and guitar. The case closes tighter than a Japanese car door. (The Japanese certainly like nice packaging.) Very happy to be its first owner.

I name some of my nicer guitars (Patina, Reymundo, etc), so I have to come up with a good Japanese name for this one.

How long was your waiting time?

Lovely, lovely, lovely! How's the voice of your new beauty? That may give a clue to the Japanese name you would like.

By the way, when did you originally expect to take delivery? I ordered in October 2016 and was given June 2017...if I know your original date, I might get some idea how much longer I may be waiting.

I will probably name mine "Sakura".

Originally I was told it would take something like 6-9 months (I don't think it was any more exact). My original invoice is dated June 1, 2016, so my total wait time ended up being around 15 months (from order to receipt).

I'm calling her "Ami" (a-mē). Not really Japanese, but close, and also uses three of the four finger abbreviations.

After you have played it a while, I am interested to hear how you think the GC-82 compares with your Ramirez!

Beautiful guitar! Congratulations!

Those are Gotoh Premium tuners. I had a set with the aluminum "frictionless" rollers and they were fantastic and hard to beat especially for the price.
