Ramirez 1A with 650mm scale?

Postby rinneby » Fri Jan 27, 2017 11:10 am

Dear friends.

This (badly taken and small) picture show a Ramirez 1A from 1988. I wonder if this is the infamous "86-model" with 650 mm scale?

All the best from Sweden.

I have not heard the story about the 'infamous '86 version'. Perhaps you could explain....

In 1986 Jose Ramirez III started to build 650 mm guitars, requested by some players. These guitars where later referred to as the "86 models" - Supposedly with a 86-label inside. I've never seen this label before, thats why I ask.

It was OK. Sounded like a cedar Ramirez. As most here will probably gather I am more inclined towards 'spruce Hauser' guitars.

I don't think it sounds like the 664 mm scale ( with the typicall bassy sound of those Ramirez )

I also have a 650mm scale Jose Ramirez III, and it from 1984. People have told me it is a good Ramirez. I have not played many others.
