Please help me identify this guitar:

Postby Ivantotakeuhigher » Wed Mar 15, 2017 1:12 am

This guitar originally had a label from Miguel Rodriguez Jr which the seller ripped out because someone told him it was a fake.

What do I click on to add photos? I just tried img but no prompts came up. While the Craigslist ad is still up I guess I will use it. I bought this yesterday from the guy who posted the ad for 500. https://miami.craigslist.org/pbc/msg/6035397619.html

I was visiting my dad in Florida and since I could only take ear splitting CNN for so long I went to the flea market for the first time in about 7 years ( I had successfully kicked the habit) . I got there quite early and there was a guy with 7 guitars in front of his van which he had purchased at an estate sale the day before. He had researched most of them but the two classical guitars he hadn't "because they were in Spanish". I had never had a smart phone at a flea market before so I started researching the one that had the label Miguel Rodriguez (of whom I had no familiarity) . I spent about 10 minutes checking out the guitar, wondering if the label was authentic, looking for similar rosettes from Rodriguez ( I didn't see any) but I decided the guitar was nice enough anyway. Just as I was reaching for the 300.00 he was asking for it his phone rang . It was his bass playing golf buddy who had apparently researched Rodriguez and wanted to buy the guitar sight unseen. He informed me that the guitar was no longer for sale so I showed him what I had learned thus far about Rodriguez and expressed my condolences for his friendship.
I couldn't stop thinking about the guitar, researched Rodriguez a bunch more and kept an eye on Craigslist and e - b a y for it just in case and sure enough it showed up. Now his story was that he went to "an expert" who told him that the label wasn't authentic so he had him rip it out so that he could post it on Craigslist honestly. My question for you folks is I see that it is a nice guitar who built it if it wasn't Miguel Rodriguez Jr? I don't know if you can see in the photos but there is purfling that matches the rosette paralleling the binding.

I went home to Vermont and had a friend purchase the guitar . I don't remember it that well to answer detailed questions. The finish had some age issues perhaps it was glue?

Sorry but to my poit of view, looking at the photos, this is for no more than 100-200$ .. And that, IF the sound and playability are very descent .. I see many things that I don't like at all.. just IMHO ..

I don't want to be rude, but this looks like an amateur build. Possibly from a kit, might have been put together without a label. The back looks like nice quality wood, but the detail finish around the rosette and the heel lacks finesse.
