Want to find model, mfg date for SADA Luthier guitar

Post by Carter53 » Tue Apr 18, 2017 12:44 am

Hello everyone! I just purchased a used classical guitar on e - b a y in nearly mint condition. The label inside reads "SADA" and underneath "Luthier Nagoya Japon, Anno 19___ No. 8 G40. On the heel block are the numbers 8(9?)501166. The first number looks like it started out to be an 8 but the bottom loop on the 8 is open so it could be a 9. The full date was not filled in after "Anno 19_____"

Looks like a spruce top with rosewood back and sides. I don't think it has been played more than a few times.

Can anyone tell me what model Sada Yairi guitar this is and the manufacture year? Thanks for any help. :?:

I guess the number starts with 85 and is the production year. Other guitars with the same label, for example a model G15, can be found in the internet also from the 1980ies. The assumption of the bay-seller of your guitar (end of 2015) that the production year is 1966 seems unlikely to me.

There is a little bit of information here, its a confusing picture and in the past I have mixed up which Yairi was which. Yairi luvr was also on this forum and seemed to know more about the history than anyone else I have read.

You refer to the e - b a y seller of my guitar at the end of 2015? I purchased this guitar last Thursday. Perhaps it is the same guitar.
The more I think about it, the more I'm inclined to agree that it probably was made in 1985. Was there a model 8G? The paper label inside reads "8G40."

Yes, your guitar (with the same serial number) was sold in the bay end of 2015, I can google the link again and send it to you if you want. I have no information on the model but the number 8G40 is strange because other models have a different fornat.

Yes. I found it. Sold from Melbourne, Australia. I've emailed the S. Yairi factory in China to see if they have a clue.
