Kuniyoshi Matsui 10M Guitar?

Post by Carter53 » Sun Aug 20, 2017 6:52 am

Hello Fellow guitar lovers,

Can anyone enlighten me about luthier Kuniyoshi Matsui? I just picked up a very clean 1980 vintage model 10M. Besides the fact that it sold for 100,000 yen in 1980, I don't know much about the builder or the guitar's present value. There is a Matsui model "Dori" on the Japanese Buyee site listed at $490,000 yen but no bidders yet.

This is a high class guitar and most likely a good buy. My guess is that it's present value is somewhere between 1000-2000 Euro. Matsui Kuniyoshi isn't very famous outside of Japan (he's highly regarded over there), I don't know very much about him I'm afraid, more than that he builds (expensive) guitars even today.

Kind regards

The more important question is what are your thoughts on the sound?

Less than USD $500. It's been like a Lewis Carrol poem on e - b a y lately. An Asturias John Mills 15S in nearly mint condition went last night for $309.00 USD. I did bid but not very much. I've bought so many good, yet inexpensive Japanese guitars lately my friends are about to stage an intervention.

I saw that guitar on the bay, looked real nice. I thought the John Mills was a little rough, fret, bridge, and preamp hole wise, but still worth much more than $309? Tough time to be a guitar seller on the bay, or anywhere for that matter I guess. However great time to be a buyer! R

Did you see the Kohno 30 for $999? Lots of wear and an un-mended crack. I wonder what it'll go for?

Saw the Kohno, that bridge to endblock crack looked nasty, I went with the 99' 1a. R

The "99 1a is a beauty but out of my league budget-wise. I have been fortunate enough to get some pretty special guitars for not a lot of money. I am going to take a breather (until the next irresistible deal of course).
