cuenca 'segovia' model

Post by dutchjonnie » Fri Nov 03, 2017 9:46 pm

Does anyone know of the cuenca segovia model? The label reads 'guitarras de artesania, CUENCA, made in spain, model segovia followed by a serial number.I'm guessing that having a serial number means it's not complete rubbish! I am considering buying it but know nothing of it and it's to far away to test play. I just want something cheap but plays and sounds acceptable so I can leave it at my mother in laws when I'm visiting so I don't always have to travel with my regular guitar.Any comments gratefully received.

Having a travel guitar for such purposes is wise. Another forum member has a Cuenca, but not the Segovia model. They are quite good if you can get it at a good price.

These guitars are made by the factory "Manufacturas Alhambra S.l.
Carrer Duquesa d'Almodòvar, 17, 03830 Muro d'Alcoi, Alacante"

I believe they may be the factory that made Ramirez lines of R and E estudio models. I looked at their on-line catalog, but didn't see this particular model.

I have a Cuenca model 40R with solid cedar top and laminated rosewood back and sides with ebony fretboard. The built quality is better than or at least on par with Alhambra 4P which is the equivalent spec model. Tone wise also loud and has a bit sustain but a little bit bassy.
