Mystery guitar

Post by Michael L » Wed Nov 08, 2017 8:35 am

While continuing my search for a guitar I came across one on that (in)famous auction site. It's of no use to me because it's the other end of the country but could be of interest to someone living closer. There's no label hence mystery.
Item number is 232553794993 on the UK site. I can't seem to copy the url to here.

The ad says -
Very old all solid wood guitar, No crack,No bridge lifting, few light scratches mostly on back, neck is true, action is low, rosewood back and sides,Vintage golden machine heads, bone saddle and nuts.....

It would be fun to discover who made it.

One might need a little more certainty before deciding it was solid rosewood. Its probably a Kimbara or something of the like, some of which can be quite nice.

Louis Panormo (1838)

Item number is useless, and url of a sale item may not be permitted/displayed in this forum. If you use Windows 10, the Snipping Tool, or some similar app can be used to capture the photos of that guitar, its sound hole rosette, sides and back, head stock would help? (JPG files need to reduce to max 320K to upload, as needed)
:)

headstock and back of the neck is Matsuoka (Japan). the inner mosaic design of the rosette is similar to my Fernandes (Japan).

No problems here. Probably the item is marked as not shipping outside of the EU and hence not visible in Canada. I frequently cannot view items that are posted in the US version of the auction site for similar reasons unless I go through a vpn with a US exit point.

I didn't mean to sound cocky, should have written as "I can't seem to find it using the Item number" :)
