D03 X players, 4/4 time, 1 measure, 5 days, 1 voice

Post by CarlWestman » Sun Mar 22, 2015 9:37 pm

Hopefully some other D03 students will contribute toward this musical game, as a game is part of the required posts for the lesson.

What I've tried to do here is just put some notes together in D minor. My timing isn't perfect, but it's better than my command of MuseScore, which is nonexistent (I've played around with it a bit but haven't figured out how to make it do what I want it to - is there a tutorial for it?).

Anyway:

Youtube

So I start with a quarter note D, 3rd string 7th fret.

Then I move to the second string, G at the 8th fret, pull off to F at 6th fret, then pull off to E at 5th fret. The two pull-offs are supposed to be a total of a quarter note. Finally, a quarter note E again, 2nd string, 5th fret.

I'm no composer and I have no idea where to take it, but maybe someone else can think of something!

Hi Carl
I'm not sure whether I do it right or wrong but just want to give it a try :D

I don't know how to write a proper music but I will try and post it later.

Thank you Carl, but what do we have to do here? Continue the composition by adding 1 measure?

Yes - I guess I need to find out what Duang added (was it just one measure? Sounded longer). Duang - sounded very interesting! I'm just going to jot down some stuff on staff paper. Maybe I can scan that in as an image once I learn what you played, and then post it.

Also, I may have played a bass note open A starting on the second beat of my measure. Forgot to mention that.

Hi Carl
I have tried to write it down but don't know how to add to this space . So I have put the link instead. Hope you could see it!

And you are right, it's not only one measure.

So, here is my contribution to musical game. I liked this procedure! I wrote one measure, although I would like to continue.
I thought to write the notes to a score and so I found a program for that (MuseScore) and I learned the basic use of it and I am very happy about it!
Here is the link of the score https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_jeWg ... sp=sharing

Carl and Duang, you have made a great beginning for the piece!

MuseScore: When you choose "New score" there is a wizard that guides you for some basic options. Then if you want to add notes you press the button on the left "Note input". Then choose the duration and add it where you want.

Hi Haris,
Very nice your compositions.

Thank you abel, I wonder why. Can you download it or you have no access? Maybe could you try with a different program?

This was fun. Must be good if you can't even play your own composition.

Very nice addition Rick! I would suggest all of us should add more than 1 measure to finish the melody. The beginning is so nice, it should not be unfinished. Do you agree?

How about resolution followed by recapitulation. i.e. copy and paste?

This is great, thanks. I use MuseScore too but I hadn't figured out sharing yet.
