Be careful or you'll be starting a whole new business supplying carved Yamaha headstock plates.

I sure did have plenty of fun giving this guitar a make-over.

I only charge him for the cost of materials and a new set of strings.

Congratulations on the "renaissance" of that instrument. It looks (and presumably - plays) so much better.

A large amount of work but a great result. An extra bonus is how much stronger you have become with all that sanding.

:D

Yes! It took me 2 weeks to carefully sand off the old lacquer. I have not only become stronger but also wiser.

Wow~ what a nice work!
I have a beautiful Yamaha GC-10M with sweet treble, but not satisfy with bass.
I've ordered a string tie, hope it can improve the bass of my GC-10M.

Do you remove the bridge when sanding off the old lacquer ?

It works very well on the GC30. Significant improvement after removing the finish including the back and sides. The bridge remains.

Sanding all off is a big work to do, but I will take into consideration.
Thank you for sharing experience.

Mr Lim
How much do you think if you ask for custom guitar like GC70 model from Yamaha custom guitar workshop?
Do you ever ask them to quote you a price for that guitar?
