Nice video !!

For the Reynoso owners, how would you describe the signature of the sound of his guitars ?

You are lucky that you don't have to rely on our opinions to describe the sound. There are professional recordings of each of Polifemo's, Justfun's and mine available from searching through this site.

Here are some of mine (2016):

I can say they are very soft under the hands, very easy to play and beautifully made.

Cypress classicals or flamencos for that matter are wonderful imo. IF I were to commission another guitar, it would be with cypress and spruce. They are more subtle, and more sensitive imo. Kudos to all who have gone the "right" way. That is not to say that rosewood guitars are lacking, just different. So many choices, so many guitars.

I played a cypress classical for a while, a Santos replica made by the UK luthier Christopher Dean. It was a very nice guitar with a unique tone. But after a year or so I found the cypress being a bit "dry" and too Flamenco like compared to the warmer tone of a rosewood or maple guitar. Just my personal experience. The guitar is now played with much joy by a talented young student of Antigoni Goni in Brussels.

Hi Michael

The spruce/cypress of Richard Reynoso are not dry or at all flamenco like, so I suspect the maker is more important than the tonewood in determining the result. Maybe Dean was after that tonal slant. Mine does sound a little different to all to my spruce/rosewood guitars but frankly I would find it hard to describe the difference, at least in any way that most people could comprehend what I intended.

Regards
Peter

Hi Peter

thanks for your interesting comment. Mine was not completely dry as a flamenca. Still a classical - and a Saontos copy! And Christopher Dean is a brilliant luthier btw. The instrument was just a bit...."sandy" - and with less overtones than a typical rosewood guitar. I was not even disappointed. A very fine instrument. And I am still willing to invest into experimental guitars. End of next week I will pick up my new Tobias Braun spruce/yew Santos. Tobias said on the phone the tone would be "close to my own cypress". Let's wait and see. :D

Regards
Michael

Sorry for distracting a bit from the Richard Reynoso celebration.
