Hi
Can you send me an MS Excel archive for vintage Yamaha classical guitar C, G, CG, GC series or classical guitars to my email? I had sent you a request in your mail box here?

Thank you
done :-)

Thanks Andreas Scherer for the Yamaha classical guitar archive records.
After review the archive list for vintage Yamaha GC models, there were many errors or typo found, there were duplicating data inside the archive.
There is no such short scale length (580mm) for vintage Yamaha GC models. I do have some old vintage models like Yamaha G-300 model (MIJ) had 658 mm scale length, others models normally 660 mm, 662 mm and 650 mm only. I also had C250 model (658 mm) and G240II (Made in Taiwan) with 650mm scal length which was my first guitar bought in Malaysia around 1990.

Hi guys
I wonder if anyone has the old catalog for all the Yamaha classical guitars and Acoustic guitars since its beginning to produce the guitars in Japan.
Please share and up load the catalogue for reference.
But how to attach a big catalo with a few pages in this forum. It is seem impossible to do that except you insert it page by page.
Any idea how to do a single file with one up loading?

I think it's against forum rules as I once had my posting on posting brochure removed.

I guess that the creation of the guitar archive was no official Yamaha project but was done successively by an employee or group of employees.

There is a very good condition Yamaha GC30A on the Bay now. Item No. 332348306229. It comes with the original Yamaha case.

Has anyone compared the top of the range G or CG lines with the bottom of the range GCs? For example, the G255s and the GC5 from the late 70s? I have been seeing quite a few G245s and up models listed at higher prices than GCs lately.
1973 Ryoji Matsuoka No. 30 Cedar 650mm
1976 Masaru Matano 600 Cedar 658mm
2015 Francisco Navarro Concert Cedar 630mm
1972 Yamaha GC-6D Ezo Spruce 662mm

I have a G255s, a G260s, and a GC3A, all from the late 70's, early 80's (beside my GC15A from the late 70's and some others GCs from the early 70's).

I think the top models of the G series can be compared with the low models of the GC series, and they are more or less on the same level regarding sound and build quality. The build quality of the GC3A is maybe slightly better at same parts (inside the guitars and at the head). The purfling of the G255s/G260s is a bit nicer, but the ebony fretboard of the GC3A seems to have a slightly better quality. The tuners are the same but with different buttons. I prefer the sound of the G255s/G260s guitars but I know that I compare spruce (G255s/G260s) with cedar (GC3A) here.

My GC3A on the left side and my G255s on the right side:

The latest GCs from those that I have played and what I
have read are very good. I used to own a GC41 and it is no where comparable to the current GC32 in terms of volume and tone. Yamaha's top GC models like the GC30A, GC30B, GC50, GC60, GC61, GC70, GC71 and GC82 are good and very consistent.

I think you can find excellent GCs in all decades, so it would be wrong imho to say old Yamahas are better than new ones, or vice versa. A difference could be that other types of wood have been used (like ezo spruce), and some minor design properties have been changed. Another aspect is that old Yamahas from the late 60's and early 70's have some kind of collectible value, especially with signatures of those famous Yamaha luthiers Hiroshi Harada, Toshio Kato, or Hideyuki Ezaki.
