Im now in the club :) Bought myself a GC-7A (1979 from the Taiwan factory). The build quality is absolute top notch and the guitar definitely looks all solid? My luthier confirmed this too. The woods are very homogeneous. Could this be?

Year(s) Sold:1979-85
Original MSRP(US$): $850.00
Top: Solid Pine
Back / Sides: Rosewood
Neck: Mahogany
Fingerboard: Ebony
Bridge: Jacaranda
Body Depth: 89-95mm
Lacquer/Polyester
String Length:650mm
Notes: Hand Crafted

I'm glad to hear that you like the GC 7A guitar.
If "solid" is not written, it is a laminated wood.
But it is important to know that guitar specs Yamaha guitar archive provides are not always correct. I don't trust the archive anymore. In the past, the original Japanese archive (which provided more correct info) was active, but not anymore.
If your luthier believes it's all solid, It's all solid. Early version (1979) of GC7A could be all solid. Spec chances happen in Yamaha GC series, which the Yamaha archive often failed to provide. The other day, I bought a GC guitar that has an ebony freboard according to the archive, but it turned out that the fretboard was rosewood. I contacted Yamaha, and they said the later version of the model might have a rosewood fretboard. A stupid reply, but it proves that the yamaha archive is not 100% reliable.

Hello Yamaha GC Club fans and experts!
I recently joined this site and form and am still a novice at guitar but learning. I acquired a real nice Yamaha GC-7 and seeks no some guidance on a potential value of it. I may end up keeping it as I have a interest in learner not classical guitar. I added a post to the valuations forum so you can fix no it under my user ID as well.

From researching already it seems these are hard to find. Mine is mad e in Taiwan.

Can you post some pictures of the guitar? What year? If it's in good condition I would say that the value is between at least 700-1000 Euro.

Here are a few pics of it. As for actual year I'm not sure as I have not removed strings yet to see serial number as I assume its inside where beck and body join? Thank you in advance for your feedback.

Very good condition. I recently refurbish a Yamaha GC30 for a friend and his whole guitar was literally "frosted".

He is very pleased with the upgrade and he now loves the new headstock, 20th fret and deeper and more powerful bass.

Based on the photos I added of my GC-7 what would you feel is a modest value if I were to entertain selling it?

If I were you there should be only one reason why I would sell it; to fund the purchase of another guitar. Even then it's good to have it as a second guitar.

If you are intent on selling it and am in no hurry I would put it on the bay starting at $1000. If there is no response you can re-list it but this time for $1000 or best offers.

Thanks Edcat7 for the reply. I was hoping that this model would have a chance at fetching something around that amount so I hope others may agree as well. Just trying to get an idea on what I should expect to entertain as a reasonable price offer as I did not want to short myself.

Happy New Year to all!

I have various Yamaha GC guitars, including a GC10 in almost mint condition that I bought about one year ago. It's from the same epoch, the same luthier, and looks similar to your guitar. I can tell you the (low) price I have paid if you want. Anyway, there is a GC7A in the "for sale" folder that - I think - is a better guitar than yours, and that is offered at a fair price, and I woud rate your guitar about $100 below.
