I think you're on the high side there edcat, but no harm in trying. If an offer comes in around $500 or above I'd snap it up quickly.
It'll be interesting to see what happens with it.

I have now two excellent Yamaha GC-10 guitars, one from 1973 (GC-10D) on the right side, and one almost 10 years later (GC-10) on the left side:

It's interesting to see how the color of the finished was changed slightly by Yamaha in these 10 years.
Is this the signature of Toshio Kato?

What do you mean by "exactly the same"? They have different properties, e. g scale length 66cm vs. 65cm, and are different models even if both are grand concert "10" guitars. Can you confirm that the GC-10D was built and signed by Kato?

Ok, I thought the Japanese letters on the label name the luthier of the Yamaha guitar. But if not, then what do they mean?

I have two of these Yamaha Grand Concert "D" models now, the GC-6D on the left and its big brother GC-10D on the right side. Both were built in 1973 and have survived their 44 years in almost mint condition. I'm still curious who built them (Kato?) but unfortunately I can't read the japanese characters on the labels which are almost identical on both guitars :-(

I'm afraid I can't answer that for you, but today I got myself a GC-3D from 1972 and it's signed by the mysterious "The Butterfly". :guitare:

I had the chance to buy a GC-3D one year ago but I saw it too late because I listed the online offers with a price filter and the price of this guitar was too low
How many guitars (Yamahas?) do you have, and do you have a picture of your new GC-3D?

I can read some Japanese.
If you post the label, I might be able to tell you the name of the luthier.
The problem is, that the signature is normally handwritten, and sometimes it is difficult to decipher.

These are Yamaha GC luthiers known to me so far:
金子 隆英 (Takahide Kaneko)
加藤 俊郎 (Toshio Kato)
江崎 秀行 (Hideyuki Ezaki)
原田 周廣 (Hiroshi Harada)

Thank you Leo for the signatures of the Yamaha GC luthiers. I have added a better picture of the GC-10D label, and another one of the GC-6D label. I think the signatures of both guitars are from the same person. They have some similarities with the signature of Kato but I'm not 100% sure.

Yes, both signatures read Kato Toshio.

Hi Jon,
I have never heard of "the Butterfly".
I'd love to see the label, if you don't mind, of course.
I used to have a GC-3D, but it has signature from Takahide Kaneko.

I only have two, GC-3D (1972) and a GC-7A (1979) - I'm a huge fan of Japanese classical guitars. I have a big collection of guitars now, I've lost the count
