Amalio Burguet 1A - Limited Edition

Post by rinneby » Sun Sep 25, 2016 8:52 am

My search for a new guitar continues... It's been four month now and I've played and sent back more guitars than I can remember

My next one to try out is an Amalio Burguet 1A Spruce - Limited Edition. Made by the master luthier himself, with support of his son Damian. This model is similar to the original Burguet 1A, but limited to only 10 builds. According to Amalio the neck has improved ergonomics. There's aslo been changes to the interior bracing for a sweeter and warmer sound with richer middles and treble, new kind of lacquer, different colors and a Torres-type headstock.

I have high hopes for this one since I really like my Amalio Burguet Estudio. Hopefully I get the guitar by Thursday/Friday this week. I'll keep you updated!

Thanks for posting this. Beautiful guitar.
How much does that limited run go for?

Thank you. A simple google search will answer your question, they are made specially for a Spanish guitar store. But if you are interested I suggest ordering one right now, as there are only 10 guitars made. 5 Spruce and 5 Cedar as I understand it. You can always send it back if you don't like it.

All the best from Sweden!

What are those tuners? They look very familiar but I can't put a name to them.

I've found them. They are the budget Gotoh. I like the plate shape. Never had that model of Gotoh though.

Well they will work of course. Very, very few tuners are so bad that you can't tune a guitar. Functionally they might be quite good, so I'd give them a chance. I haven't tried that particular model but I'm sure there will be others on here who have. I'm not fond of the gold coating. I think they would look much nicer in just plain brass. Like a lot of cheap tuners they think that bling is going to 'improve' them, in fact it just makes them look cheap.

Didn't mean to be lazy.

I've kind of stopped "Googling" for guitar prices after knowing some luthiers don't even have websites.
So "Amalio Burguet" is an actual man/luthier or some made-up name like "Antonio Loriente?"

:) I hear you. Amalio Burguet is an actual luthier: http://www.burguet.com/eng/amalioburguet.html - He's making his higher end guitars in a small workshop with his daughter, Vanessa and son, Damien. My guitar is a special edition of his concert series, and is not present on the website, but its supposed to be a 1A on speed.

So 1A is his top model? And there's AB as well. Anything on speed, always is better. :-D

Thank you Adam, I hope so too. But lately I have been hard to impress, so fingers crossed! Even though I've played blues/jazz guitar for almost 25 years I'm by no means an advanced classical guitarist. Still, I know what a good guitar should feel and sound like.
