My preference is the plain, non-engraved Landstorfer or Hauser model brass plate: Cheaper, lighter, same excellent function, not too bad looking. In fact, I prefer the elegance of simplicity look.
Agreed. These are the Schellers on my Ambridge.
At the time these were fitted (2013) Schellers were fairly new and didn't yet offer much in the way of engraving.
These are very precise tuners and can be heartily recommended.

Simple, but nice looking.

I prefer the Schellers with the Hauser plate. More elegant. This is from my Reynoso, photo courtesy of GSI.

Wow, those are so pristine they look like a 3d render. The whole image, really - nice piece.

Chris, Can you determine how the buttons are attached to the worm gear shafts? (What holds the worm gear shaft assembly together?)
I'm not sure!

They are fantastic but are priced accordingly high, keep some more economical options on hand too.
Thanks. I decided to take the plunge... I'm going to have them as standard on my guitars now. It seems a fair number of you expressed a like for the Hauser type design so maybe I'll stock a few varieties to suit individual tastes or a particular aesthetic. I raised my prices effective this summer but I'm including the Sheller tuners and any wood from my inventory except Brazilian as standard options now! Woohoo!

Thanks everyone for the opinions.

Better than any I've had, even Rodgers, except Knut Welsch's freewhell which are no longer made.
I prefer the sober brass standard Lansdorfer design with snakewood buttons.

Oh... sorry. The ends of the plate... the appearance, a matter of personal aesthetics
Same for me. It looks somehow.. broken, cut off.
I prefer the Hauser plate as well.

I agree; looks very, very elegant.

The other impressive feature is the guitar being in perfect tune with all those gorgeous buttons in a straight line.

Truth be told, it's not. I haven't moved the tuners since I got it because I like the elegance and perfection of the tuners all lined up. Now I think about it, I could at least try turning them in increments of 180 degrees and see if I can get it closer to being in tune!

That might work, Peter. Using conservators gloves, of course. You would still have to be very careful and not be seduced into 90 degrees, for

example. It would be fatal to rationalize that it was just a small turn and how could it hurt ? Obsessive Tunists are everywhere:

I believe that's the sort of logic they like to use to lure unsuspecting souls over to the Mellifluous Side . . .

Hallo Everyone.
Thanks for expressing such good feelings about our tuners.

The shaft is made out of a lot of single parts.
These parts are made to our design by high precission sub- suppliers for a good match of wear and gears.

If you need some more details or help to find the different styls of our tuners, let me know I will be more than happy to help.
It is right we have reasonable Prices for Standard Tuners, and the more fancy the Tuners get, the more thesy cost.
But the mechnical property of the Tuners are all the same. The difference is only optical.

best regards
Philipp

By NOT stating the base price for your product I can only consider them to be beyond my reach. I visited your web site and I didn't see prices listed there either. This is not a good marketing strategy if you ask me. I might just order a set if I knew the cost but I want to know the cost before I decide.

Hallo mikfik
we have a price list for luthiers. Once we receive a proof of that we will be happy to send the price list.
We also sell to musicians or privat persons direct, but we quote them individually.
So if you let me know what you like, I will get you a price.
just use my mail ( info@gitarrenmechaniken.de ) and I will send the details.

The reason for this approach is to protect the luthiers, and also to make sure that the "non luthier" persons are getting the right tuners in respect to roller distance, buttons, plates and engravings...
so no bad marketing, just a working system.
I hope you understand.

best regards
Philipp
