7string guitar sounding

Post by Guero » Wed Sep 06, 2017 8:26 pm

I was wondering if a 7 string guitar sounds different from a 6string guitar. I'm not sure if body size and bracing are the same, I suppose not quite. Does that lead to a different general sound?
Imagine you'd string a 7 string guitar with only 6strings (you'd have a very comfortable string spacing with an appropiate nut and saddle btw  ) to eliminate resonance and subtle overtones of the additional string - would there be a perceptible difference in sound?
Maybe because of the extra weight, mass, size, whatever, the guitar responses "slower".. I don't know. :?:
Greetings Güero.

I have a 7 and I don't notice any difference with a 6. I tried a 6 demo model at the luthier's shop before I told him to make the same model as a 7. No compromises that I can notice.
