La Guitarra California, Sept 22-24

Post by Steve Ganz » Sat Sep 16, 2017 6:44 pm

Fellow D'campers,
I'll be in San Luis Obispo for the La Guitarra Festival. If you are also there, I hope we can meet in person and hobnob for while. I'll have a few instruments to show.

Anybody else have plans to go to LGC? What are you looking forward to ?

I'm particularly interested in Jeremy Jouve and Celil Rafik Kaya this time.

I was there 2 years ago and enjoyed the master classes with Ana Vidovic and Scott Tennant. They also had a wonderful tribute to Celedonia Romero, with all the Romeros there!

Enjoy, and don't forget my tee shirt Steve!

zavaletas,
It was a nice festival. If you have done vendor fairs, you know that most of the time is taken up with meeting customers and prospects. But many friendships renewed and enhanced. I had a nice meeting with an excellent guitarist who gave me great feedback and props. We hit it off personally, which is always nice.
Sold a guitar, which is always nice.
I attended two concerts: Celil Refik Kaya and Meng Su.
Both were excellent. Meng Su got a nice reception. Celil played his own Sonata, and transcription of selected Goldberg variations.
There were fewer builders than usual, which I think was good for showing guitars... not the usual excess hubub.

I didn't attend every single concert but I did see quite a few, and I watched all of the masterclasses and even played in one.. it was the best weekend I've had in quite a while!

I stopped by and said hello and checked out your guitars. I really liked the Torres model, it played and sounded great, and the back and sides had really good looking figuring. I would have loved to take that one off your hands but I'm maxed out on recent and upcoming guitar purchases. Keep up the good work and I hope to run into you again, maybe when I have money to buy something!

I was looking forward to going to this show, but I sold all my guitars this spring and didn't think I would get new ones done in time (I didn't). Next year for sure! Or is this an every-other year festival?
