There's a brief performance on the Sakurai documentary (posted earlier in this gargantuan thread,) great playing but only a minute long. Go to YouTube and type "Sakurai Documentary," skip to 3:00 and you'll get a quick glance of Villa-Lobos' Choros. They're wonderful guitars, you should try APK's if you can.

I believe APK said he will be away for most of August, so you probably have to wait till September. Anyway I believe Andras Czaki also plays a Sakurai/Kohno in the youtube videos of his GFA competition so those may be worth checking out.

And you are right these are certainly wonderful guitars. :casque:

A quick question for Neil and Robert: did you receive my PMs? I want to be sure that I'm doing this correctly.

My apologies to other S-K club members for taking your time.

Hi,.
My Kohno 30 tuning head machine is too old, would like o replace it, anyone can tell me where I can get the new replacement? I found that Gotoh is shorter than the original one in the Kohno as some people saying we can get the Gotoh for replacement?

I received a nice 1973 Kohno model 10. It sounds fantastic. It is has a very similar sound to my 1974 Kohno topped Aranjuaz no.8. One thing that was surprising is that it does not have the traditional spanish foot but appears to be a dovetail joint. Is this typical on Kohno no.10 of this period? My kohno topped Aranjuaz has the traditional spanish heal.

My 1971 Kohno 10 also does not have a Spanish foot but that does not mean its a dovetail joint. Many guitars are built Spanish style with sides inserted into the neck and not have the Spanish foot. I agree they sound really nice. Of course each one will be a bit different.

Thanks for the reply. I have noticed differ types off neck designs on some Japanese guitars. Some have a l-shape block with a rather thick foot extending under the fret board. The type of neck joint really doesn't make much difference to the sound. Repairing one designed this way is problematic.

Has anyone had a chance to play a Kono 620 from the early 60's. I was wondering when his peek person was. This was right after he returned from Spain and I assume it would sound similar to a fleta.

What year? The 620 designation, if the guitar was made in 1963 or earlier, simply means it was finished on June 20 of whatever year. I played a 1963 "7-12" today; finished on July 12th. It is a great guitar; whether it's similar to a Fleta I have no idea.
