I already posted a Soundcloud recording of this piece, but here are two new versions:

The first one on my classical guitar:

The second one on my steel string guitar:

I like the classical guitar version more, but I might be biased.

Very nice! I've been interested in this piece and haven't listened to anyone's performance of it yet. Are you tuning your G string down to F#?
Thanks,
Vincent

Thanks Vincent!
Yes, I tune down my g-string a half step.
Once you get used to it, most Renaissance pieces are easier to play that way.

And thanks for listening, Bert. Me too, I prefer the nylon string version.
The steel string version was kind of an afterthought when I had heard Rob MacKillop on Yotube playing Dowland on a steelstring guitar.

While I like both versions, the steel-string version is especially impressing. I think this is a kind of Renaissance tune that could well have been played on a metal-string orpharion at the time it was written.

I like both and think they both have validity. The all mahogany steel, by virtue of its materials, doesn't sound

too twangy (also the skill of the player) and gives the piece another dimension. Thanks for giving us both versions.
