Dowland, John - Lachrimae Pavan (Update)

Postby lucy » Tue Apr 10, 2012 2:27 pm

Finally, I've recorded an update of this piece.

It is not as clean as I would like, but I have incorporated much of the advice people gave following the last version. Thanks everyone. In particular, I've worked on my dynamic range.

Please let me know what you think.

Constructive criticism welcome.

Lucy,
This was the first thing I listened to in my office this morning. I enjoyed it very much. You play with such a nice tone. Thanks for sharing this.

It was a little too slow for my taste but I really like that bit about two thirds of the way through where you slowed it right down that was really nice. I didn't hear your other recording though sorry

I think you should play it slow to maintain the melancholy nature of the piece. Just my opinion.

I enjoyed it.

Thanks for commenting aatz1982 and Alan. :)

I've tried playing it faster, but somehow I prefer the slower tempo. I know it's a pavan, so this might indicate it should be played a bit faster, but it's also very melancholy and it seems to lose something of that mood when played faster. That's just my view.
