Dowland John - Complaint

Postby crisscross » Sun Nov 02, 2014 7:35 pm

Don't know, what Mr.Dowland complains about, maybe the fact, that I play one of his works on a guitar strung with La Bella flatwound 900-B strings. I kind of like them for variety's sake. https://soundcloud.com/tele1310/john-dowlandcomplaint

This is the theme of "Fortune my foe," well-known song by John Dowland.

Very oddly, in Diana Poulton's collection of Dowland's solo works she put Fortune and Complaint adjacent to each other (nos 62 and 63) without mentioning that they are essentially the same tune. Normally she was quick to point out resemblances.
