Carulli, Ferdinando - op.241/23 Andante Grazioso Video

Post by powderedtoastman » Sun Aug 20, 2017 5:40 pm

As performed at my local open mic.. only got one shot and I was a bit jittery so if we ignore the places where I stumbled I think I did OK.
Also, I think different versions of Op. 241 may have different numbering for the pieces, so I hope this is correct...

Enjoy!

Thanks! I've been going to them most months for about a year and a half, but just now started being happy with how I play at them :D Not perfect but I at least achieve some of the expressive things that I pick out in practice.

There are mistakes but you never get derailed, and you do get the expression through so well done!

Well done, Steve. I enjoyed your playing. It's something completely different when one is

in front of others, isn't it ? A good achievement.

Well done, Steve, I wish I could play like that in front of an audience... :). Carulli is one of my preferred composers (together with Sor, Aguado and Tárrega). BTW, I recognized the book you had in the stand, it's a Mel Bay book of Carulli's Opus 241 edited by Jim Roberts, I also have it.

Yes, that's the one! It's actually a very nice edition to play from, I don't agree with all the fingerings but they don't get in the way, and page turns basically never get in the way. The first few pieces are a little overly simple but some are still nice music, and once you get about halfway into the opus there's a lot of nice music that's well within reach!

I played again at the same open mic last night, more Carulli but from a book of freely available facsimiles that I had FedEx Office print and coil bind for me.. so I'll be back to share another couple videos in a couple weeks when they get posted!
