Jones, Peter - Tears for Two - Tarrega and Me

Post by PeteJ » Sun Oct 23, 2016 12:15 pm

With apologies to Fransisco. Perhaps it's disrespectful but it was a challenge and I think it works. Please don't shout at me, it's just a bit of fun.

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING!

No seriously, I think it works well and I enjoyed it. Maybe if you had put a beat underneath it, it would have been disrespectful.

Aha, Yes. Give it a drum 'n bass groove. That would be pushing the boundaries.

The added harmony sounds great! Very nicely done!! I think Tarrega would be pleased as punch to know that his lovely melody lives on and continues to inspire over 100 years after his passing!

Phew. I thought I might be told off. Thanks for the feedback. What surprised me was the difference in style between the tune and the original piece. It becomes a little folk tune with complete ease and is suddenly more English-sounding. I just love the sound of two guitars.

By the way, I've written out the dots for this if anyone wants them.

Hi Pat. I'm not sure what to do about the dots. If you PM an email address I'll send them.

Bravissimo Petej, interesting to add a new harmony to this famous piece of Tarrega.
I like much more with this new armomia not the original one.
The sound of the two guitars is fantastic.

Thanks Maxim. To be honest I'm still not quite sure it's right to to mess around with other people's music in this way, but no complaints so far.

I imagine Tarrega would have enjoyed playing duets with you.

I hope so! But I fear he may have preferred a better player. My recording is tedious and dragging and I must do a better one. In fact, I will resolve to do so soon.

I really enjoyed listening to this Peter. It certainly adds a new dimension especially in the 'A' section.
