Hume, Ray - Two short pieces in ragtime style

Post by Ray Hume » Tue Dec 13, 2016 10:14 am

I've been composing guitar music since the 1970s but have only recently taken to writing pieces in swing rhythm. Maybe I'll make it big now - at last!

Check out my website at http://www.ray-hume.com for more samples and some play-along Christmas carols. See under 'lessons' and 'stuff for students'.

You will also find the sheet music for these two pieces. See under sub-heading 'free'

Very nice! I've heard a lot of ragtime blues (Gary Davis and Blind Blake)... all on steel string. I assume you're using a nylon string classical guitar here? It's a very pleasant sound.

Yes indeed: classical guitar. I've never really understood why more people don't use it for blues and ragtime - and indeed jazz. The great Charlie Byrd is about the only jazz guitarist using a classical guitar I can think of.

They sound great. Classical guitar & ragtime go together well.
