Jones, Peter - Lounge Bar Shuffle - Quartet

Post by PeteJ » Sat May 06, 2017 2:09 pm

I've been having fun overdubbing and also exploring gypsy jazz patterns. Here's a track off the latest hit album. I may get shouted at...

But I wondered...

If I wrote out the dots would this be something anyone would want to play? I thought perhaps it would be a good introduction to the style and and the scale-licks and fun for a few friends to play. It's probably only grade IV-ish in technical terms but tricky to play right.

:bravo: Loved it! I am partial to a bit of Django myself. It sounded great! :casque:

However, I fear it'll get zapped by the mods, because it's not classical enough. At least it's played on nylon strings!

Anyway, very enjoyable. I've downloaded it, just in case it "disappears"!

Well I enjoyed it, Pete. I am sure others will. As for the dots, yes, please write them down and give us a PDF. :P

Lucy, I don't think we have a threshold for "classical", so I can't see why the mods would remove it.

Thanks for the nice comments. One never knows. I did wonder whether it was appropriate but at least it's a classical guitar. Also, there is talk of here of popularising the guitar and it must help to show it off in different musical styles.

Having had some encouragement from George I'll probably write it out and post it. The idea was that it is not too flash for intermediate finger-style players, while much of this kind of soloing requires a pick and a lot of speed.

Very enjoyable. My only concern is that it's a quartet, and I can only rustle up one partner! But I look forward to it and will certainly download it when ready. You never know. . . !
