Bemmels, Michael - Confectionary Sonata - Video

Post by MBemmels » Wed Jun 14, 2017 5:04 pm

Hi everyone,

Here is my new composition for solo guitar: Confectionary Sonata. The three movements are based on the traditional nursery rhymes "The Muffin Man," "Hot Cross Buns" and "Pat-a-Cake"

Confectionary Sonata:
I. Allegro Moderato
II. Andante Sostenuto
III. Allegro

Thanks for listening! :)

Great idea to use these nursery rhymes and doing that so well. I'm only familiar with the Muffin Man, but the combination of the tune with the harmonisation is working very well. The whole sonata reminds me of some arrangements of Verdi pieces I one heard. Awesome job you did.

Well I must say this is extremely well done, you've made not just a sonata out of cake-themed nursery rhymes but a 'confection' of classical style out of it and it works very very well. I do hope you will have a go at a sonata using a more personal language and your own themes.

Very smart and thoughtful composition, bravo👏👏👏
Of course you also play very well I think.
It's well above my own level so I can't give you any constructive criticism but I also hope to hear more from you.
Maybe with a theme of your own as suggested above.
I enjoyed it much and congratulations on your hard work🤙😎
