Meister, Riff - Arpeggio Sketch in D

Post by riffmeister » Sun Aug 16, 2015 6:52 pm

A short little sketch played on a brand new guitar by Ross Gutmeier, the guitar is based on a 1920s Santos Hernandez that Ross restored. Some discussion about the guitar can be found here:

The piece was recorded on a Zoom H4n using the internal stereo XY microphone pair, some reverb was added in the mix.

Hey Riff great playing, my wife loved the piece. And of course the guitar sounds great very clear crisp yet those great basses!

I need better microphones and preamps, the Zoom doesn't do the guitar justice. It's big, fat, and juicy.....as you know!

I expected another tune in drop-D and voilà! Excellent choice. Nothing better for showing off the power of a guitar!

Yep, drop D "r" me. :D

(actually it was a coin toss between the one I posted and another one in A, but the guitar was already tuned down, so....)

Lovely piece Riffy and your guitar is sounding mighty fine for such new baby.

Is that sketch one that you have published?

Indeed, this guitar had a head of steam right out of the starting gate! I haven't scored this one yet....

Now, that's the attitude I expected. Well done, lad. You have real prospects in the military.

Even though it is dusk, this riff compo made it look like dawn!

Hello Riff,

I really like the sound of your new guitar, I wish I had one! :D

Your little sketch reminds me of something Andrew York might write, very nice. :D

Well enjoy your new instrument may you have many happy musical years playing it.

Regards, Ray

:merci:
