Barrios Mangoré, Agustin - La Catedral

Postby Costin Soare » Wed Feb 10, 2016 7:54 pm

Here is my live performance recorded by the Romanian Radio in Mogosoaia Palace, near Bucharest... The guitar is an Alexandru Marian, loosely based on a Hauser, and the strings are Savarez Alliance, normal tension (although now I don't use carbon anymore, except for the 3rd string)! I hope you'll enjoy it!

Great playing. Ive been practising this one lately and this is a inspirational performance.
The piece as a whole is really well crafted and i like the way you allow the prelude to flow without getting too romanticised as we often hear it played.
The last movement has a good tempo and dynamics and a good pulse throughout.
I think you could useva bit more vibrato - a technique you hear less and less in modern players. Ther are some magic notes in the piece and a bit of vibrato could make them the shiny gems in a beautiful necklace.
Great recording and enjoyed listening,

Thank you... I am always thinking when I play this piece about its formal aspect: the lyric remembrance of the saudade, the Bach-like choral of Andante religioso and the last movement, somehow a Bach hommage also, like an Allegro of a Baroque Sonata!

Very nice interpretation ! I love it! And you have a very nice guitar ! I like a lot the guitars of Alexandru Marian . I just remember him since he crushed his Alhambra 4P just to make the back more thinner to have some more crystal sound  .
:bravo:
