Andrey Shilov plays "Danza Paraguaya" by Agustin Barrios Mangore. Perhaps Barrios' most popular work, the DANZA PARAGUAYA was written down in numerous manuscripts by Barrios on various occasions in different locations: Uruguay, Venezuela, Costa Rica and El Salvador, resulting in five distinct versions including the recording done in 1928. Composed circa 1926, this work was performed by Barrios in his concerts throughout his career and he obviously enjoed creating variations on it. The "Danza Paraguaya" is a form of music known in Paraguay as "polca paraguaya". For me it was quite difficult to chose a version because each of the variants has interesting things. Beside mentioned versions I have redactions of Alirio Diaz and Miguel Abloniz and also some other editions. Finally, my version is a mix of almost all versions.
Following your logic, Chopin may be played properly only by a Polish pianist, Bach - only by German etc. The most important thing is to be a musician. One time an Argentinean (my former student) said to me that when he comes back to Argerntine he will tell to everyone how Ukrainian taught him - ARGENTINEAN, to play Argentinean Tango.
