Barrios Mangoré, Agustín - Minueto en La - Video

Post by Pajarillo » Sun Aug 16, 2015 1:12 pm

Pajarillo plays "Minueto en La" by Agustin Barrios Mangore. This work was composed in Uruguay in the 1920's and published through Carlos U. Trapani in Montevideo. Barrios composed seven minuets and recorded a minuet by Fernando Sor, all of which indicate his predilection for this classical form.

Well done. I was just reading through that piece yesterday, and some other of his minuets. Very nice.

There are two teachers who are my favorites TARREGA and Mangore and every time someone plays one of his works have to stop listening.
I really like how you play the guitar.
ALWAYS HITS ...

Thanks very much Jorge!
Barrios was really genius! His music is wonderful. From time to time I return to him and learn and record a couple of new pieces. Now my Barrios playlist consists of 34 pieces.

Thank you very much dear Jacek!
It's a pleasure to hear that. One of my last Barrios is Villancico de Navidad. I watched some great guitarists playing it (like Williams, Lopes and others) who couldn't recognise harmonics!!! It seems Barrios didn't indicate frets and only showed the strings on which the harmonics must be played. All they play open strings instead of playing the melody with harmonics. How strange it is! I got it at once. But Ednaldo Lopes even conducts with his left hand playing open strings pretending it is very deep and wise musical thought...

I truly enjoyed this performance. Until I joined this forum recently, I had not been aware of Mangore'. How wonderful life is when treasures like this are discovered.

Yes David!
Beside Barrios there are so many treasures! Even guitarists and guitar fans know almost nothing about Sinopoli, for instance. I have recorded 24 wonderful pieces by him. Everyone knows Tico-Tico, but not everyone knows the name of the author - Zequinha de Abreu. I recorded 15 pieces by him (and soon there will be 16th!). Reis, Sinho, Bandolim, Garoto and many others... They are fantastic!
