[PDF] Beethoven, Ludwig Van - Fur Elise

Postby minstrel » Thu Nov 28, 2013 8:12 pm

Updated version.
Howdy!

This is my transcription of Fur Elise. I have tried to make it as faithfull to the original intent
as possible. I have read through it, it is quite playable but some parts are not easy. I am
sure that there will be a few more changes as I further understand the compromises that are
neccessary in rendering this work for solo guitar, but I think it is mostly "there".
Comments and critisism is welcome and neccessary. Particularly bars 69 - 83, which is
the most problematic part of the transcription. But I like it a lot so far!

I have preserved the dominant 7th harmonies that are present in the first publication but
are left out in subsequent editions such as the Breitkopf.

All phrasing slurs have been preserved, and I have added no guitar fingerings or guitar slurs.
I will probably engrave a fingered version once I have some experience playing the piece.

Thanks for the wonderful transcription -- I like that you put the opening at the 12th position with the arpeggios starting in deep bass. I'll give it a try tonight. -- Ed

Until bar 22 it is a literal note for note of the piano original except for the low "G" that has
to be dropped in bar 10

Thanks Minstrel,
for your effort to bring this piece into the guitar repertoire.
I've got another transcription, too, just acquired recently, I'll see how they compare.
That other one uses re-entrant broken chords (A-e-a-c-e-a) instead of the steadily rising ones (A-e-a-c'-e'-a') you use, and puts the melody an octave lower.
I actually prefer to play original guitar pieces, but this one is so well known, and so often asked for, that I've been looking for a decent transcription for a while. I sometimes find that laypeople can't understand pieces originally written for the guitar, so it's better to play familiar tunes to them, to drag them unnoticed into the guitar world.

I have been playing this quite succesfully for about a year. Attached is the latest version with some added fingering
for clarity.

Thanks - Sorry to be a pain, :desole: but I finally solved a nagging problem. I reworked bars 35 - 37. NOW its perfect :bye:

Thank you for the transcription. It's been several years that I've been searching for the arrangement of this song that begins on the high E. I used to play it back in high school but I lost the score sheets before I could finish the last part. Since it's been several years so I guess I'll start over using your transcription.

Cheers,

Minstrel,

Here is a thread I started on this piece, I still have not picked the one I want to play, perhaps you might have the version I am looking for if you don't mind. I have sent you a PM.
