[PDF] MacPherson, Christina - Waltzing Matilda

Post by Paul Janssen » Fri Feb 07, 2014 9:53 am

Hi All,

Here is my arrangement of Waltzing Matilda by Christina MacPherson.

This tune is fairly simple although I will offer some performance notes none the less.

I play the song expressively and with a fair bit of rubato (probably too much rubato :) ). I also try and let the notes ring as much as possible. Unfortunately the app I used to create this sheet music and tab doesn't offer a lot of editing options so I haven't been able to show how long to hold the notes for (especially the bass notes). Therefore as a rule of thumb, the bass notes should be held until the next bass note.

Here is a link to a recording I did of this a couple of weeks ago: viewtopic.php?f=39&t=83917

I've actually worked on the arrangement a bit more since I recorded so this version is ever so slightly different. Still I hope the recording gives you a sense of how I play this.

Having said all that, feel free to play it any way you see fit. I'd love to hear how others approach this and to see if/how this simple arrangement evolves.

Have fun!!
Paul

Thanks everyone for your encouragement.

BIll, I used Guitar Pro 6 to score this. I've only just starting using Guitar Pro 6, so I haven't fully worked out how to use it properly, but I do think it has some limitations. Still it's relatively inexpensive and I found it easy enough to use (you enter directly onto either the score or tab, so you don't need to have a midi keyboard or need to be able to play piano). You can download a trial version off their website if you want to have a look.

Regards,
Paul

Hi Paul,

Thanks so much for this piece. Does Guitar Pro allow for publishing without TAB? Thanks again. -- Ed

Hi Ed,

You can certainly publish just the notation without the Tab and/or the tab without the notation if you like.

Regards,
Paul

Hi Folks,

It looks like my original file was corrupted some time ago. I've received notice that someone was looking for this arrangement so I'm reposting it.

Paul
