how to best support lute from sliding etc

Post by emeraldvalley » Mon Feb 27, 2017 6:00 pm

I have just started playing lute, being primarily a guitarist.
Is there some kind of gripping material( non damaging) to keep the lute in place better? or some alternative system
thank you Ray

I found this useful https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C03fsBh5IUg and I use the stuff put under rugs to stop them slipping on my left knee.

Many lutenists use a piece of chamois under the lute.

I put both feet up on the footstool, creating a lap for the lute which keeps it stable and is comfortable also.
