Where can I find a student model vihuela?

Are these even made? I have seen some really nice ones by luthiers here and there, but they're a bit out of my price range. Can someone point me into a better direction?

Hi. The GVR shop in Los Angeles has some vihuelas that were made in Mexico and they are priced very reasonably. You can look German Vazquez Rubio up on the web or pm if you need a number.

If you haven't yet seen it, you should take a look at the vihuela article on the web site of Sandi Harris and Stephen Barber (Lutes and Guitars, London, UK). While their instruments are likely to be outside your price range, they have some excellent pictures of two of the three surviving period vihuelas as well of the ones they make.

And if you're not familiar with their site, I recommend caution. It's quite easy to get sucked into spending a very long time reading through it.
