10-String bracing

Postby HNLim » Sun Apr 12, 2015 2:33 pm

I am at the moment working on converting my 1974 S.Yairi 950 into a 10-string guitar ( viewtopic.php?f=11&t=80080 ).

I am now about to start work on the bracing for this 10-string conversion. I need some recommendation. This guitar used to be a 660mm scale with the body generally larger than all my other guitars. My current conversion uses a 660mm scale length. It used to have a very powerful bass which tends to overpower the treble.

I intends to follow the original bracing hopefully with some modifications to enhance treble. Your advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you and have a wonderful blessed day.

Hi Lim!

Basically you need wider neck block to support the wide fingerboard strength & add a bridge plate that wide & strong enough to take the tension.
Hope above info helps.

Thanks Hong, BTW I have already completed the 10-string guitar. It has an awesome tone and volume.
