Tascam portastudio

I have a tascam 4track portastudio thats been sitting in the box since i bought it.... Id like to put it to some kind of use maybe recording myself playing CG... i read the directions and it looked like they said i need an additional tape player besides the one thats already in it....why? im not even sure....any ideas on how i can put this sucka to use?

Hi, i have also a Tascam 244 Portastudio, i use this as a mixer with a Computer. Tapes are with difficulty to use. I plug in a microphone into the Tascam and the Computer record as a tape. it is more easily.

appreciate the advice...so using that aa a mixer will work better than
just plugging a microphone into my computer?

Hi GuitarChris, yes, you have a better control of the micro, its strengthened the output and/or input to the computer.
