Lhoyer, Antoine de - op.31/03 Duo in e, Rondo - Video

Post by Pedro Izq » Thu Sep 24, 2015 8:46 pm

Hi everybody!

I share one of my favourite pieces from the classical period. It is the Rondo, the 3rd and last movement of the Duo Concertante n.3, Op. 31, composed by Antoine de LHoyer. We included it in our CD "NoiZ guitar duo: dos". It makes fun to play it and I suggest to try whichever of his duos Op. 31 or Op. 34, very good music.

Loved seeing your duo performance. If I was in Berlin I'd come and listen to you. The sound recording is great too.
By the way, is that a Marty Spruce top you are playing? If so, when did you get it?

Thank you Erik and Alan for your comments. The duos of Antoine de L'Hoyer are quite rich not only musically but also the way the material is split. I have plenty of fun playing whichever of them, so I always suggest them when I am asked about possible repertoire. We included the full duo Op. 31, Nr. 3 in e minor in our CD "dos".

Regarding the guitar, yes, it is a Simon Marty from 2009.

Greetings from Germany!

Interesting music, from a musician who lived through 'interesting' times https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antoine_de_Lhoyer

I've never heard his music before. Very interesting! Nice to see you both playing for memory, and so well. More, please.

Its terrific stuff - the Panormo Duo specialise in this composer to an extent, based in the English Midlands, and playing it on Panormos as you'd guess. I'll second (or third) the 'more please'!
