Hola, Hello, G'day,
As an Australian now living in Spain for 5 yrs, after living in the UK for 5 yrs, after living in OZ for 40, those 3 greetings, in that order, sort of back track over a lot of furniture removals.
I have come to this board initially at least, and by a fairly circuitous path, in search for a second guitar. Living in Spain, close to almost everywhere, I have so many fine Luthiers to choose from. However, Australian's well earned reputation for extraordinary craftsmanship, willingness to innovate and amazing timbers, makes it a must-do in any self-respecting search for a hand-built instrument. Luckily I get to return to OZ each year (for a bit of work), so, the search is real.
I started studying the guitar 3 yrs ago, not knowing much about the classical guitar repertoire and even less about Spanish classical. I did, however, know I wanted a classical guitar, so I kicked off with a German made Hanika (58PC) - I suspected, and have come to appreciate, a staggeringly good instrument for the price. As a thoroughly domesticated husband-unit for an orchestral conductor who spends most of his time away, I get to spend anywhere from 2 to 6 hours a day, everyday, practicing and I can honestly say, despite having spent my life doing all sorts of things, nothing has come even close to the all consuming attraction generated by the classical guitar. Extraordinary.
Living in Spain, I suppose it is no surprise that the romance of Spanish guitar music weaves a powerful spell, and is taking up more and more of my practice time. So be it. Anyway, you can tell I spend a lot of time on my own ... first post on a new board and it's blah blah blah blah from me ..
it's certainly not the norm ...
Anyway, nice to be aboard,
Best wishes to all.
