Greetings from Brisbane Australia

Post by mikew63 » Mon Mar 20, 2017 9:16 pm

Hello there,

I'm very pleased to have found your forum ... rich with lots of material and a cheery and enthusiastic membership. It is always gratifying to find a community such as this willing to encourage new members.

I must confess that I am yet to formally begin my classical guitar journey. For many years I have been an avid listener to all the great guitar recordings; classical, jazz, and folk. At various times I have played steel string guitar and piano and now I have space and perspective in life to immerse myself in the classical guitar. I stumbled on this forum while on my search for my first instrument. Next steps are to actually buy one and get started with a willing and patient teacher.

thanks once again

Mike

Feeling compelled to announce that I have just bought my first guitar .... an Alhambra 4P. All the reviews are consistent and favourable and I love it. Lessons begin in two weeks, I cannot wait !!!

Congratulations! That's very exciting. If I may make a suggestion. Use the next two weeks to let your right hand (assuming you are right handed) nails grow and get your teacher to show you how to file, shape, buff and care for them. Getting that sorted out early will make learning to play more enjoyable.

G'day from SA. Hope you weren't affected by the cyclone. That was one helluva blow. We don't get cyclones in South Oz - just blackouts!

You've got a great guitar to start your journey, one which should last you many years. I know how excited you'll be to have your first lesson. Enjoy and let us know how it went. There's lots of Aussies here so if you want a bit of Ozchat just sing out. :D

Hi Mike,

Let me offer you my own belated welcome to the forum. An Alhambra 4P is a great first guitar (more like a second guitar really). i wish you the best of luck as you begin lessons in a couple of weeks. Be patient with yourself and remember to enjoy the journey and not just focus on the destination.

Regards,
Paul (Melbourne)

Hi Mike.
Welcome also from me on the Gold Coast. I travel to Brisbane for lessons. I can recommend a good teacher if/when needed.
All the best.

Welcome Mike from a fellow Brisbanite. I am wondering who your teacher is. No names, but does he by any chance have a hyphenated name and teaches at either Sherwood or Shailer Park?

Cheers,
Malcolm
