Hello from Kyushu!

Post by berninicaco3 » Fri Apr 07, 2017 4:59 am

I just moved to Sasebo, Japan 3 weeks ago. I have friends in the JET program here.

I used to play piano but i move around a lot at the moment so hauling a grand around would be a problem hahaha.
I am into woodworking and most other arts and crafts. Built 3 guitars including pearl inlay in high school, and halfway renovated a 1932 Kimball grand piano 2 years ago before passing the project on to someone else. Got hung up on tuning the action.

I digress!
I want to learn classical guitar because it is suited to the kind of music i used to play on the piano, in a portablr box. I am a newbie to be sure. Picked up one at a thrift store and am about to check out the lessons here!
Found some music i like already and ordered "pumping nylon," though that might take a month to get here, lol.

Any exercises you can suggest?

Welcome to Delcamp!

If you haven't already, please take a moment to read this page for a good rundown on how the forum works, rules, history, etc. You have found a great source of classical guitar knowledge, as we have a wide assortment of members, from beginners to performing artists, with a number of fine teachers, historians, and luthiers too. So feel free to ask any questions you might have, but consider using the search function first, as many topics have already been discussed at length.

If you participate in other online forums, you might notice that things can get pretty heated at times. Delcamp takes great strides to avoid that. Here is what Mssr. Delcamp himself has to offer on that.

It is important to note that there is a requirement to post an average of once a month. Members not meeting this standard may have their memberships terminated.

Adding your location to your profile is a nice touch. Many of us have made new friends from doing just that.

Again, welcome to the forum!

Regards,
