A new resident lefty

Post by superheavydeathmetal » Wed Apr 12, 2017 7:18 pm

Hi, all! I'm Conley. I've been playing guitar for 15 years or so. I have a steel-string acoustic Takamine AN16 that I love, but I have recently become enamored with the soft, crisp sound and vibe of nylon-stringed instruments. As such, I am excited to be soon purchasing my first nylon-stringed guitar. I have narrowed my decision to a used Cedar-top Alvarez Yairi CY-140 (around $850) or a new Spruce-top Pavan TC 20 or 30 ($1350-$1770). The durability of composite instruments has given me pause to consider them, but I doubt I will be able to find a lefty, and I really haven't been to impressed with the sound from the samples I have heard.

I look forward to discussing technique and theory, and I would also love to see and hear any recordings by other members! Maybe I will come up with something of my own, eventually.
There are never enough hours in the day to play.

Welcome to the forum fellow lefty. I'm actually right-handed, but play left-handed - just holding a guitar right-handed feels completely awkward to me.

I have a Pavan Flamenco Negra and love it. Be forewarned that it may take some time to be built - I waited a number of months (can't remember how many).
All instruments left-handed
Pavan Flamenco Negra
Córdoba C10
Mya-Moe Tenor Cutaway 'Ukulele, Low G
Mya-Moe Baritone Cutaway 'Ukulele
Kamaka Long-Neck Tenor 8-String 'Ukulele
Kanile'a Baritone 'Ukulele tuned C6, High G

My apologies, madam! I should have known to check the dewlap before making presumptions!

Dang. I don't mind waiting a bit, but that seems excessive. I will see what he says, but it looks like I will be heading to Southpawguitars.com or Reverb. My remaining options are as follows:

Kremona Solea:
https://www.adkguitar.com/collections/g ... cal-guitar

Calido CG-3222-CAX:
https://reverb.com/item/4649547-calido- ... ice-braced

Cordoba C10 CD/IN:
https://www.adkguitar.com/collections/g ... cal-guitar

Francisco Navarro Student:
https://www.southpawguitars.com/classic ... uitar.html

Francisco Navarro Requinto:
https://www.southpawguitars.com/classic ... -case.html

I hope to place an order for something by next Friday!
