Salutations from the South of France

Post by Nivlac » Fri Apr 14, 2017 1:45 pm

Hi everyone
I live near Nice and have been playing the guitar as a serious hobby for many years now. I have explored different genres such as rock, folk and blues but my real interest is in classical guitar.
I have a few guitars, but the ones of interest are a custom made Kirk Sands classical electric and a 2003 Eduardo Duran Ferrer concert classical with a cocobolo back.
I also visited the Casa Ferrer at the Alhambra in the late 70's and met the late Eduardo Ferrer and bought one of his cheaper guitars which I still have somewhere.
I am hoping to expand my repertoire and I am desperate to find the sheet music for Bizet's Habanera arranged by Francis Kleynjans

Thanks

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your beautiful collection of instruments; hopefully you can say more about them in due course?

Hi Stephen
I have always had an interest in musical instruments.
I wouldn't consider myself a luthier at all, but I love working with wood. I built the harpsichord in the photos. It's a copy of 17thC Ruckers single manual.
The baby grand in the background is a late 1920's Gotrien Steinweg baby grand. (Steinway was Steinweg's father who changed his name when he emigrated to USA)
I am also interested in making a guitar sometime in the future
